Chlo & Co Dance was created in the Bay Area, on the traditional land of the Chochenyo, Muwekma, Ohlone, and Ramaytush people. We pay respects to these Indigenous caretakers and encourage you to learn more about the land where you reside at native-land.ca.

Mission

The company worked to generate aesthetically dynamic choreography that was physically rigorous and intricate. The impetus to create was spurred by recognizing, setting, and breaking limitations.

At the core of Chlo & Co Dance was active communication, practiced in both process and performance. In pursuit of that mission, King and Zimberg believed that honesty and clear intention were integral to success and growth. Chlo & Co Dance strived to manifest these beliefs in each project they pursued.

Chlo & Co Dance engaged and supported the ever-growing community of emerging and early professional artists by producing a biannual performance event, Drove, and a speaker series, Tabled. Drove took place twice a year and invited artists to share the stage with Chlo & Co Dance, make new work in response to a curated prompt, and present in a fully produced show. Since the first iteration in May 2016, Drove supported over forty-five artists and was hosted in seven venues and two cities. Tabled brought together arts professionals of varying disciplines to speak about shared topics pertaining to arts ecology and development.
